The domestic plumbing system is totally dependant on the storage and supply of fresh water both hot and cold. This ensures that the system will run efficiently and correctly. This water comes from a water supply company initially and then it splits when it enters the home. The storage of the water takes place in something called a cylinder. This cylinder will normally be installed up in a loft space. These storage vessels are very important and it is also a good thing that you know exactly what type is fitted in your home in case an emergency occurs. An Enfield Plumber always carries the correct tools for the job. The domestic hot water can be heated in the cylinder in two different ways: Indirect Heating is fed with its cold water from a tank called a storage tank located above the cylinder through a connection underneath. There is also a drain cock situated very close. Enfield Plumbers only use professionally qualied tradesmen. The cylinder heats its water by using really hot water that is fed from a boiler and passes it through an internal copper coil known as a heat exchanger. This heating system can also be powered by solar energy. As soon as the water is heated it returns back to the hot water system pipework through a connection on the top of the cylinder. As there is not any direct contact between the water and heat source the system is called an Indirect heater. This is the term for the process of the heat transference. Direct Heating takes place by a coming into contact directly with its heat source which is as an electrical heating element (immersion heater). There is no boiler involved like the direct water heater so the system is simple in its operation, this is a useful system for a home that has very little space. These direct cylinders will feed a bath or a shower. The cylinders can be quite large and are sometimes fitted internally with 2-3 heating elements.
